Edible Landscaping
Michael McConkey

After birth, Michael played in the woods. Before 10 he had a hillside his mother said he could plant. So besides bringing turtles home he bought Tiger Lilies, Yucca and other natives.
By high school, music and performing occupied most of Michaels time. He'd go out of his way for black orchid corsages for special dates which also took up much of his time.
In the 70's Michael fell hook line and sinker into the "grow your own" movement and became very interested in the wide world of diet and gardening. After traveling and living in central America and Canada, Michael built a yurt and set up a garden in his brother's back yard. He grew everything edible he could find. He wrote songs about it, he went to school about it, and as fate would have it, he started a mail order nursery (Edible Landscaping) about it.
Michael has been written about in the Washington Post, New York Times and Organic Gardening Magazine. He is credited with introducing many new fruiting plants to the United States gardeners.
Michael can be contacted through Edible Landscaping at (434) 361-9134.
